Sowing Guide

Early Sowing/Module Sowing

Sow Festuca Glauca seeds on the surface of moist compost in trays, pots or modules.
Firm down the seeds but do not cover, these seeds require light to help with germination.
Place the newly sown seeds in a propagator or a clear plastic bag and seal.
Once germination has started remove the container from the propagator or plastic bag and place in a well lit location with a reduced temperature. Protect from frost.
Once the seedlings are large enough to handle take a small clump of seedlings and transplant them into a 1 litre pot filled with a gritty compost mix.
Grow on until strong in a frost free greenhouse.
Plant out when all risk of frost has passed.

Direct Sowing

For best results start the plants indoors.

Growing On

Newly planted grasses will need watering well until established.
Established plants will benefit from an annual feed in spring with a balanced general fertilizer.
To tidy established plants cut back foliage anytime during April and July. Avoid cutting back over the autumn and winter months.
To maintain foliage colour divide the plants every 2 - 3 years in spring.

TIP

Dead foliage can be easily removed in late autumn by simply combing through the plants with your fingers.
