Sowing Guide

Early Sowing/Module Sowing

Sow Gaillardia seeds on the surface of damp compost in containers, modules or trays.
Lightly firm the seeds into the surface of the compost.
Place the container in a clear plastic bag and seal or place in a propagator if preferred. Do not exclude light as this will help with germination.
Once the seeds start to germinate remove from the bag or propagator and place in an area with a reduced temperature and good daylight exposure.
Keep the young vulnerable seedlings away from frost.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 7.5 cm pots.
Plant out in groups of 4 to 5 plants when they are growing strong (2 to 3 weeks after transplanting).
Before planting out, harden off over several days to acclimatize the plants to the outdoor temperatures.

Direct Sowing

For best results start the plants indoors.

Growing On

Water the newly planted Gaillardia well until established.
Dead-head regularly to encourage more flowers to grow.
Water well over the summer months.

TIP

This variety is low maintenance and does not need staking.
