Other Names - Cutting Celery, Kintsai, Leaf Celery, Parcel, Soup Celery…
This vigorous biennial resembles both parley and celery, with the appearance of flat leaf parsley and the distinct flavour of celery. However unlike celery, par-cel is grown for its dark green leaves and not for its stems. It is much easier to grow compared to celery and can be used as a substitute in most dishes. The flavoursome and versatile leaves can be added to salads, stir-fries, soups, casseroles, stews etc.
Suitable For - Large containers, vegetable plot, raised beds, window sill, window boxes
Sowing Months - Late February - June
Harvest - May - November and again in March - late May if survived the winter
Uses - Leaf used in salads or for flavouring
Add some well rotted manure or compost to the soil a few weeks before sowing. If the soil is heavy clay or the drainage is poor mix in a generous amount of sand and gravel to the soil also. Remove any weeds from the area.
