Petunia Crown Multiflora F2 produces funnel shaped 5 cm wide blooms in a wide range of shades. It has a prolific growing habit making this open pollinated variety especially suited for growing in the summer beds, borders and containers.

Soil Preperation

To help with moisture retention and fertility add a good amount of well rotted manure or compost to the soil. If the soil is a heavy clay add some gritty sand to help with drainage. Remove weeds from the area.

Sowing Guide

Early Sowing/Module Sowing

Sow the seeds on the surface of moist loam based potting compost in trays, modules or pots.
Do not cover the seeds as they need light to germinate.
Place in a propagator or a clear polythene bag and seal. Germinate at the temperature suggested above in a well lit location (however protect from direct exposure to hot sun)
Once germination has started remove from the bag or propagator and grow on in a cooler but not cold location.
Keep the compost moist however do not overwater.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 7.5 cm pots.
Grow on in a frost free greenhouse or cold frame and when all risk of frost has passed plant out.
Harden off the petunia plants over 7 - 10 days before planting out to reduce shock.

Direct Sowing

For best results start the plants indoors.


Growing On

Water the young plants well until established.
The plants will benefit from a fortnightly liquid feed of a high potassium fertilizer just before flowering commences.
Avoid overfeeding. Overwatering the plants can make the leaves turn yellow and the plants may die.

TIP

Dead-head spent flowers regularly to prolong the flowering season.
