Statice Sunset produces masses of papery blooms in warm shades of rose pink, apricot, orange, yellow and peach. It's uniform habit and large sized flower heads on long strong stems make this variety excellent for fresh or dried flower arrangements.

Soil Preperation
To help with moisture retention and fertility add a good amount of well rotted manure or compost to the soil. If the soil is a heavy clay add some gritty sand to help with drainage. Remove weeds from the area.

Sowing Guide
Early Sowing/Module Sowing
Sow the seeds on the surface of moist compost in trays, modules or pots.
Sprinkle with a light covering of fine compost or vermiculite.
Place in a propagator or cover with a clear polythene bag and seal. Germinate at the temperature suggested above.
Once germination has started remove from the propagator or bag and place in a cooler, well lit location. Protect from frost and direct hot sun at this point.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 7 - 10 cm pots.
Grow on in frost free conditions in a well lit location such as a greenhouse or cold frame.
When all risk of frost has passed and the plants are growing strong plant out into their final growing position at the distance suggested above.
Harden off over 7 - 10 days before planting out to help reduce stress.
Direct Sowing
For best results start the plants indoors.
Growing On
Water the young plants well until established.
Established plants will need watering regularly especially in dry conditions.
To preserve the flowers for winter decorations, cut the stems just before the blooms fully open. Hang the flowers upside down in bunches in a dry, cool location with good ventilation.
