Sowing Guide

Early Sowing/Module Sowing

Sow Veronica seeds in small pots, trays or modules.
Lightly firm the seeds into the surface of the moist compost. Do not cover.
Place the container in a clear polythene bag and seal or if preferred place in a propagator.
Once germination has started remove the container from the bag or propagator. Move to a location with good daylight and reduced temperature.
The seedlings can be slow growing however when they are large enough to handle prick out into 7 - 10 cm diameter pots.
Plant out in their final growing position when the plants are strong and a good size.

Direct Sowing

For best results start the plants indoors.

Growing On

After planting out, water well until established.
Remove old flower spikes that have faded. This will encourage more flowers to grow.
Established plants will need watering well during dry weather.
In the autumn after the first frost trim back the plants to about 5 cm above ground level.
TIP

Mulch established plants in spring to help with moisture retention in the soil during the hot summer months.
