Water the newly sown seeds well.

Growing On

Water the young seedlings well until established.
Established plants need regular watering especially in dry periods.

Digging In

Cut the plants down at anytime before flowering with a sharp spade or garden shears. The stems should still be tender. To speed up the decaying process it is advisable to chop each stem into small pieces before digging in.
Leave to wilt on the surface of the soil for a few days.
Dig in using a sharp spade to the depth of 20 - 25 cm. Or if preferred use a rotovator to incorporate the organic matter.
Leave the green manure to decompose in the soil for at least 3 - 4 weeks before growing any vegetables in the soil.
