Morning Glory Purpurea Carnevale di Venezia produces masses of trumpet-like flowers throughout the summer months. Each flower has unique intricate striped markings in shades of blues and pinks. This vigorous climber is suited for growing up archways, fences or trellises creating a stunning summer display.

Soil Preperation
To help with moisture retention and fertility add a good amount of well rotted manure or compost to the soil. If the soil is a heavy clay add some gritty sand to help with drainage. Remove weeds from the area.

Sowing Guide
Early Sowing/Module Sowing
To help with germination, soak the seeds in clean tepid water for 24 hours before sowing.
Sow one seed at the depth suggested above in a 10 - 15 cm preferably biodegradable pot, as this will allow the young plants to be planted out with very minimal root disturbance.
Place in a polythene bag and seal or place in a propagator. Germinate at a temperature suggested above.
Once the seeds start to germinate remove from the propagator or bag and place in a well lit area with a reduced temperature. Protect from frost and exposure to hot sun at this point.
As the plants start to grow taller add a thin stake to encourage the plants to start climbing.
Grow on in frost free conditions, a greenhouse or cold frame is ideal until the ipomoea plants are growing strong and all risk of frost has passed.
Harden off over 7 - 10 days before planting out.
Direct Sowing
For best results start the plants indoors.
Growing On
Plant the young ipomoea's next to their sturdy supports, a fence, archway or trellis etc.
The plants may need a little guidance to start them growing up the supports.
Water well until established.
Established plants will need regular watering especially if growing in containers.
Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage more flowers to grow.
