Silene Pink Pirouette is a striking flower with delicate notched petals in a pretty shade of pink. This low growing spreading annual is very productive and is ideal for the summer beds or containers.

To help with moisture retention and fertility add a good amount of well rotted manure or compost to the soil. If the soil is a heavy clay add some gritty sand to help with drainage. Remove weeds from the area.

Sow seeds indoors in March onwards on the surface of damp compost in trays, modules or pots.
Cover with a light covering of fine compost or vermiculite.
Place in a propagator or cover with a clear polythene bag and seal. Germinate at the temperature suggested above.
Once germination has started remove from the propagator or bag and place in a cooler well lit location. Protect from frost and direct hot sun at this point.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 7 - 10 cm pots.
Grow on in frost free conditions in a well lit location such as a greenhouse or cold frame.
When all risk of frost has passed and the plants are growing strong plant out into their final growing position at the distance suggested above.
Harden off over 7 - 10 days before planting out to help reduce stress.
Sow direct in April - May in a well prepared seed bed where the plants are to flower, in drills 40 cm apart. The soil should be a fine tilth.
Lightly cover the seeds with soil and water well.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle thin to 40 - 50 cm apart.
Water young plants well until established.
Established plants will need watering regularly especially in dry conditions.
This silene variety has an almost trailing habit making it ideal for growing in hanging baskets.
