Delivery Information

All products on this website are for delivery to UK addresses only.

(Including Northern Ireland, the Highlands & Islands, Scilly Isles, Channel Isles and the Isle of Man). Delivery charges to these areas are the same as UK mainland stated below (with no additional surcharge). Delivery however may take longer than the times stated due to weather, distance etc.)

Orders are normally despatched within 24 hours of receiving the order. Orders placed after 1pm on the Friday and during the weekend however will be despatched on the Monday (or Tuesday if a Bank Holiday). During busy times such as the spring months, despatch may take longer due to the high volume of orders. In this case, if the delay is significant we will contact you to let you know.

Orders are delivered by the Royal Mail or courier (depending on the size of the parcel)

2nd Class (RM 48) service will take 3-5 working days.
1st Class (RM 24) service will take 1-2 working days.

STANDARD DELIVERY - Royal Mail 2nd Class (3 - 5 working days) - £0.99

For orders under £17.50, the "Standard Delivery" charge will be added automatically at checkout.

FAST DELIVERY - Royal Mail 1st Class (1 - 2 working days) - £1.67

LARGE HEAVY ORDERS

If the order is significantly large and heavy we may contact the customer to discuss a delivery charge. We are happy to contribute towards a large delivery fee, however to absorb the full delivery charge, sometimes may not be possible for us! The customer has the right to decline the delivery charge quoted and cancel the order if they wish to.

Orders that do not arrive

On rare occasions, parcels do go astray. If you have not received your goods after 10 working days of receiving the 'despatch email' please visit our 'Returns & Refunds' page for full instructions.

Packaging

We love gardening and the natural environment. We believe every business has the power and the responsibility to reduce the unrecyclable waste that ends up in landfill.

We choose to use eco responsible packaging where possible to reduce the burden on the environment.

Delivery Packaging

The padded bags we use to deliver our seeds are made from 100% recycled pulp paper (not plastic bubble). These bags are 100% biodegradable. We suggest, as the padded bags are a heavy duty quality that they get reused before being shredded and added to the compost bin.

On the padded bag, the delivery note with the customers address is protected in a plastic 'documents enclosed' envelope. Our envelopes are made with oxo-degradable film. This film, unlike conventional plastic will start to degrade after a few weeks of exposure to light and heat (this oxo-degradable film however is not ideal as it is made from petroleum-based polymers.) After some thought however and looking into alternatives we feel this product is a better solution to conventional plastic as conventional plastic can take many years to start degrading. We are however looking for a better alternative.

Seed Packets

The choice of material for our seed packets was a real dilemma!

As a grower I have come across several seed packets that were not user friendly and in a busy market garden environment I often found this to be very frustrating. From this knowledge (and frustration) we hope our seed packets have you the gardener in mind.

Our seed packets are 100% waterproof and have a handy zipper for opening and re-sealing after use. They are hermetically sealed for superior quality. The packets are a size that fits comfortably in the hand. As they are re-sealable they have a plastic rim which makes dispensing the seeds a little more tricky. To help with this our seeds come in a small wax lined internal packet which makes dispensing, especially tiny seeds much easier. Our seed packets come with easy to follow sowing instructions.

For superior quality seeds, seeds (not all) should be kept in a hermetically sealed container. This prevents moisture and light from penetrating the container and spoil or significantly reduce the germination rate and vigour of the seeds. For this reason we decided to use a laminated material with unbleached craft paper on the outside, a thin layer of plastic and an internal layer of foil. This material allows our seeds to be contained in a 100% hermetically sealed environment. We believe it is vital that our product is of the highest possible quality with the very best germination and vigour rate. Unfortunately these seed packets are not recyclable or biodegradable however we do encourage our customers to reuse them as they are made from a very strong material and are resealable they are very useful (perhaps for storing next seasons saved seed). We have also made sure they are as small in size as they can be to fit the purpose.

Some seeds however such as peas and beans, for best results, should not be sealed in a hermetically sealed container as these seeds need to 'breathe'. The packaging for these seeds are simply unbleached Kraft envelopes which are recyclable and biodegradable.

In an ideal world it would be great if we had no packaging. Hopefully new and improved eco-friendly packaging will emerge on the market soon. If you can suggest better eco alternatives please do let us know :)
